Oil Powder

In the late 1990s, scientists at NPRI recognized that most conventional drying technologies either changed or destroyed an oil’s original nutritive value, thus rendering it less effective or totally useless.

Conventional methods of converting oil to powder have some major downsides, including that they:

  • Significantly alter the molecular structure of the oil, in some cases reducing or destroying the active nutrients.
  • Are cost-prohibitive, substantially increasing an ingredient’s cost.
  • Introduce oxygen and/or heat, increasing the potential for oxidation and increased peroxide values, and lowering stability and shelf life.
  • Have low oil load potential.
